CranioStructural Integration® Releasing Chronic Patterns
CranioStructural Integration (CSI) is a 4-day program, generally presented in either two 2-day workshops (CSI-1 and CSI-2) or one 4-day intensive (CSI-4D), depending on location. A special 3-day intensive (CSI-3D) can also be arranged. Pre-requisites for this program are: CSF-1 and CSF-2 or CSF-4D or CSF-3D
or CS-CP.
CranioStructural Integration (CSI) is a cranial approach to treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Over years of practice, Dr. Hancock observed commonly occurring postural and musculoskeletal patterns in a high percentage of his patients. His clinical experiences enabled him to demonstrate that many of these musculoskeletal patterns are maintained by chronic cranial strain patterns, which he has named Primary Cranial Patterns (PCP). To correct these cranial patterns and release the related compensatory musculoskeletal patterns, Dr. Hancock developed CSI – a protocol of unique cranial procedures. Read more about CSI.
Each CSI cranial technique releases sutural and soft tissue restrictions that are limiting cranial motion and perpetuating both the chronic cranial patterns and their related compensatory musculoskeletal and postural patterns. The CSI techniques result in immediate and predictable long-term improvements in muscle function and/or posture throughout the body. These improvements result in a reduction of pain and other symptoms of musculoskeletal dysfunction, increased range of motion (ROM), and improved athletic performance. The changes can be demonstrated by manual muscle testing, palpation, observation, and/or ROM evaluations.
The CranioStructural Integration workshop builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in the prerequisite CranioSomatic Foundation workshops, and on the subsequent experience participants have developed in practical clinical application of those techniques. In addition to developing the skills to treat their own patients, all participants experience the benefits of CSI firsthand as recipients of the procedures.
CranioStructural Integration-1 (CSI-1)
Workshop Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify SBS musculoskeletal compensatory patterns using manual muscle testing, therapy localization, challenge, and other evaluation procedures.
- Describe, in terms of quadrant analysis, the CranioSomatic concept of functional relationships between cranial and somatic components.
- Demonstrate the correlations between common chronic restrictions in the mobility of the cranium (Primary Cranial Patterns) and specific common compensatory musculoskeletal patterns.
- Apply the CSI protocol (more than three dozen cranial techniques) to release specific Primary Cranial Patterns and their related musculoskeletal patterns.
- Demonstrate the sutural ‘clearing routine’ to be used after each cranial session.
- Use AK procedures in a posttreatment evaluation to confirm CSI outcomes – that each specific cranial pattern has been released and that related compensatory musculoskeletal patterns have been resolved.
- To evaluate the somatic effects of environmental or ergonomic factors (e.g., glasses, shoes, etc.) that can adversely affect posture and musculoskeletal function.
- Describe how patients can evaluate and/or modify factors in their environment to resolve or avoid adverse effects perpetuated by environmental and ergonomic factors.
CranioStructural Integration-2 (CSI-2)
Workshop Objectives
Participants will learn:
- Techniques for sessions 3 - 6 of the CSI protocol for releasing Primary Cranial Patterns.
- To evaluate the somatic effects of several environmental and ergonomic factors (e.g., glasses, shoes, etc.) that can adversely affect posture and musculoskeletal function, and be able to explain ways to resolve the problems.
