CranioSomatic Therapy® Workshops

Hancock CranioSomatic Institute offers multiple workshops for healthcare professionals. These workshops present unique cranial approaches to identifying and treating the compensatory musculoskeletal functions that are associated with many patients’ complaints. Participants first learn to identify the presence of cranial dysfunctions (sutural restrictions, strain patterns of the sphenobasilar junction, etc.) and their compensatory effects on muscles and fascia throughout the body. Participants then learn cranial treatment procedures to release these cranial dysfunctions and restore normal function to the related muscles and fascia.

Techniques of Applied Kinesiology – manual muscle testing, therapy localization, and challenge – are also taught, as they are used extensively to identify cranial dysfunctions and confirm after treatment that somatic function has been restored. CranioSomatic Therapy workshops are presented in 3 groups: CranioSomatic Foundations, CranioStructural Integration and Facilitated Pathways Intervention. Other special workshops are also presented.

Notable features of the CranioSomatic Therapy workshops:

  • Cranial models are used extensively as teaching aids in class. A set of 5 cranial vault bones is provided for each participant, and a life-size model skull is provided for each two participants. These realistic models facilitate understanding and the application of techniques.

  • Classes are generally limited to 24 or fewer participants to maximize the effectiveness of the unique training approach.

  • Complete manuals are included in the workshop tuition; they include the concepts and treatment procedures presented in the workshop. The manuals minimize the necessity of taking notes, maximize accurate retention of the workshop concepts and facilitate correct use of the procedures in clinical applications.

The CranioSomatic Therapy workshops in each group build on knowledge and skills developed in the preceding workshops and must be taken in that sequence. (CranioSomatics for Craniosacral Practitioners can be taken in lieu of CranioSomatic Foundations - 1 & 2 by individuals already proficient in craniosacral therapy – see the workshop description.)
